Fans also have the power to choose the look of Pritchett’s NHRA Factory Stock Showdown racecar. A pair of Mopar and Dodge//SRT-themed livery concepts, designed by motorsports lifestyle brand Hoonigan, will be featured on a special section of Hoonigan’s website, for a fan vote that will end at 11:59 p.m. ET on February 8. Pritchett will carry the winning design at all seven NHRA Factory Stock Showdown races, starting at the first event, the NHRA Gatornationals, scheduled for March 15-18 in Gainesville, FL.
It’s shaping up to be a busy 2018 season for Leah Pritchett. In addition to the Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) star’s responsibilities behind the wheel of her Mopar Dodge//SRT NHRA Top Fuel Dragster, Pritchett will also steer a supercharged Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak in the full slate of 2018 SAM Tech NHRA Factory Stock Showdown events.
Pritchett’s 354-cubic-inch HEMI® engine-powered Drag Pak will be prepped and maintained by the DSR team, led by crew chief and new DSR employee Kevin Helms. Helms brings years of experience driving and tuning a Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak to his new role, including a 2015 NHRA Stock Eliminator World Championship and 2017 NHRA Stock and Super Stock runner-up finishes.
“We’re excited that, in addition to competing under the banner of the Mopar and Dodge brands in the NHRA Top Fuel class, Leah Pritchett will also carry our colors into NHRA Factory Stock Showdown competition,” said Pietro Gorlier, Head of Parts and Service (Mopar), FCA. “Leah is a fierce competitor and a great brand ambassador, and we look forward to cheering her on in double-duty at seven events this year.”
Pritchett first tasted Factory Stock Showdown competition last year, racing at two events in the popular NHRA Sportsman category. That exposure stoked her competitive fires to embark on a full 2018 schedule as NHRA expanded the amount of events for the class. [02/07/18]

Mopar and Dodge//SRT have increased their commitment to Leah Pritchett’s Top Fuel team and renewed their support of Matt Hagan’s Funny Car. The brands will take primary placement on Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) driver Pritchett’s dragster at seven of 24 events on the 2018 NHRA schedule, more than triple from two races last season as primary sponsor. The brands will also share sponsorship of Pritchett with Pennzoil for two events.
“If you’ve ever been to an NHRA race, you can feel the energy and enthusiasm the crowd has for both the drivers and our Dodge performance machines,” said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Cars, Dodge//SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA North America. “That passionate NHRA fan base is very well aligned with our enthusiasts, so expanding our presence to three times the number of NHRA races this year really helps us connect with our customers where they live and breathe. And with the increased number of Drag Paks, supported by our SRT Engineering team, competing each week, the technology transfer from what we learn on the strip to what we are putting into our production cars – like the 840 horsepower Demon and 707 horsepower Hellcats – continues to grow at a rapid pace.”
The brands will serve in a primary sponsorship role for 14 races during the 2018 season as Matt Hagan seeks his third career NHRA Funny Car title.
Hagan’s DSR teammates, Ron Capps, Jack Beckman and Tommy Johnson Jr., will also battle for the crown in Mopar HEMI®-engine-fueled Dodge Charger R/T Funny Cars.
The Mopar and Dodge//SRT brands will debut at the NHRA Winternationals — a massive 4,800-square-foot exhibit that combines each brand’s rig to form one of the largest displays on NHRA Manufacturers Midway.
The display rigs will be positioned head-to-head, joining fan-friendly exhibits and show vehicles together under one footprint. Also new for this year starting at the NHRA Gatornationals, an elevated viewing area atop the Dodge rig section of the combined display will give VIP fans the chance to get a unique aerial view of the midway and track not offered at any other display.
The crowd-favorite Challenger SRT Demon simulators will return, giving enthusiasts a virtual seat behind the wheel of the 840-horsepower, most powerful muscle car in history. Fans can also enter to win prizes, learn more about Mopar parts and accessories and meet their favorite NHRA stars in autograph session staged at the rig during each race. The new display will be present at 15 NHRA national events throughout the 2018 season. [02/07/18]
Dodge//SRT and the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving have announced a new performance-packed one-day drag racing class, featuring the 840-horsepower 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon – the most powerful muscle car ever.
The new “Dodge//SRT Bondurant Drag Racing School” complements Bondurant’s already successful “Official High Performance Driving School of Dodge//SRT” class provided to all customers who buy an SRT model vehicle and includes both classroom instruction and on-track performance driving. 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon owners have the opportunity to participate in either one of these full-day classes at no additional charge.
In addition to the Challenger SRT Demon, the new drag racing course will also feature other Dodge high-performance vehicles, including the 707-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and Hellcat Widebody, and the 485-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT 392.
Pre-registration for the “Dodge//SRT Bondurant Drag Racing School” began January 12, with the first class starting March 9. Demon and SRT owners register for the class through the Dodge//SRT concierge line, 800-998-1110, as their vehicle identification numbers will be verified. All others register at Bondurant.com/dragracing.
The “Dodge//SRT Bondurant Drag Racing School” will be held at Bondurant’s world-class facility and the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, an official NHRA drag strip, which sit on approximately 200 acres in Chandler, Arizona. The new program is a part of Bondurant’s Golden 50th Anniversary in 2018 and is a collaboration with Dodge, Goodyear, Shell and Pennzoil. [02/07/18]
A.R.C. Motorpsorts has announced that ecarmover.com will expand its sponsorship of NHRA Pro Stock racer Allan Prusiensky as primary sponsor on his Dodge Dart for the 2018 NHRA season.

Experts at Car and Driver have named the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica to their "10 Best Trucks and SUVs" list as the winner in the Van category, the second consecutive year that the Pacifica has been honored.
According to Car and Driver, “In keeping with its mission, the Pacifica moves with aplomb, not overstarched vigor; its suspension is tuned for passenger comfort, while light and faithful steering makes navigating tight parking lots as effortless as knocking back a glass of Yoo-hoo. Even so, the Pacifica proves willing enough to dance down a twisty two-lane road...To all that, the Pacifica also adds an attractive exterior design, ergonomically friendly interior controls, and an infotainment system that’s perhaps the most intuitive and easy to use in all of autodom. It also returned 31 mpg on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test, a boon for long family road trips. The Chrysler Pacifica is a refined tool that is now a two-time 10Best winner.”
In addition, Cars.com editors named the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica the “Family Car of the Year” at their annual 2018 Best of Awards show hosted in Detroit during the North American International Auto Show.
According to Cars.com editors, "Chrysler has a history of stuffing its minivans with innovations, and the Pacifica is no exception. It's an achievement in practicality, from the improved Stow 'n Go fold-flat seats to the available rear entertainment system ... None of that costs you on the driving front, where the Pacifica pairs refined ride quality and quietness with a capable V-6." [02/07/18]
Hot Rodders of Tomorrow will be holding their High School Engine Challenge and the very popular Junior Engine Challenge at the Super Summit Car Show at the Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH, June 8-9.
“Summit Racing is excited to announce our partnership with Hot Rodders of Tomorrow,” said Jim Greenleaf, Summit Racing’s Motorsports Manager,” As a team sponsor and as host for the regional competition at our Super Summit event, June 8th and 9th at Summit Motorsports Park, we look forward to watching the teams compete to qualify for a spot in the finals. Getting involved with these future automotive enthusiasts builds on our current youth programs including the Summit Racing Car Show Pedal Car Challenge and the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League.”
Hot Rodders of Tomorrow now has 14 High School qualifying events scheduled throughout the nation for the 2018 season, with the season concluding at the Dual Championship in November at the SEMA Show and December at the PRI Show.
The Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge is a Program that benefits schools, students and the automotive aftermarket industry. They provide a stage for automotive tech classes to compete and earn college scholarships. Teams of five students tear down and reassemble a 350 c.i. Chevy engine. It is a timed event measuring speed and accuracy.
The Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Junior Engine Challenge was developed for kids between the ages of 5 and 18 years old to “get wrenches in their hands and grease under their finger nails” by taking apart and rebuilding Briggs & Stratton 5 hp single-cylinder engines. A team consists of two members; one teammate must be 5-18 years of age. Each team will have to completely disassemble and reassemble the engine so it is functional and in running condition. Basic hand tools and equipment (supplied by HROT) must be utilized to complete this task. The contest will help develop the youngsters problem-solving and communication skills, as well as increase self-esteem and the understanding of a working internal combustion engine.
