UPDATE:  Edelbrock’s  VICTOR 440 Cylinder Heads:
Mopar tech forums and chat rooms are full of racers wondering where these heads are and why they can’t get them. Well, I am one of those people. I want to give the Edelbrock Victor Heads a try on the new engine. I have called every possible source and struck out.

THEN I HEARD FROM EDELBROCK! Steve Whipple, VP of Sales, called to explain what they have been going through trying to get the Big-Block Chrysler VICTOR Heads to the Mopar engine builders. They have had the foundry make three “runs” of several hundred Victor heads. Edelbrock is not satisfied with the final castings and cannot accept them due to their own high quality standards. They are making every attempt to get them into production and scheduled for final machining in their California facility. He couldn’t give me a date they would be ready but the back-order list is getting huge and he knows they need to get some Victors out there.

[Note: I thought it was best to let our MoparMax readers know WHY the Victors just aren’t available. It is NOT due to lack of interest, the heads are simply a casualty of the foundry tolerance vs. Edelbrock’s demands.]

We will be using Modern Cylinder Heads to do the cylinder head CNC porting and hopefully our order that we placed in December will pay off with some heads real soon.

Here is one of the first pictures (left) of the new belt-drive oil pump for big-block Mopars that Titan Engineering is putting on the market. We will use a #16 single pickup in the oil pan and a #12 pressure line to an adapter that will fit the stock oil pump mounting pad so the oil will be fed to the block through the O.E.M. oil galley. Mounting it will be a challenge so stay tuned and we’ll show how we get it done.

Here is the foundation of the 540/E85 Engine. I love the bronze lifter bushings. Now they are the exact size they should be, not the size 100,000 miles of street use made them. This operation also restricts oil to the lifters and will help keep the oil on the main bearings. We will start assembly and clearance checking this week.
Next month should be FUN! We will be putting the engine together and showing you some assembly tips we have learned over the years. Remember we are not a high-dollar race engine builder. We have a garage at home for the race cars and we do our best by being careful and planning the best we can.

See you in June with how we get 800+ horsepower out of our home-made Mopars.
