This weekend’s Monster Mopar Weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis is the sixth and final race of the Victory Performance Nostalgia Super Stock Series.
The championship looks to be a battle between last year’s Champ, Dan Beale, and Series veteran Dennis Diepenbrock. Last year, Beale went into the Finals tied with Al Corda for the lead and eventually had to win a one-race run off to claim the title.
This year he will have to overcome a two-round deficit to reclaim his title. Diepenbrock's 1964 Plymouth Wagon has been deadly consistent this year and he has done a good job of driving. With his 20-point lead, it is his championship to lose.
The race for the money and prizes available for third through fifth may even be more exciting than the championship as 10 drivers are in striking range of those positions. They include Charlie Kuenster, coming off of his emotional World Series victory, and third place driver, Wally Krueger. He has quietly gone rounds all year and could easily walk away with a victory at Indy.
There were 42 cars in the Victory NSS race at Gateway earlier this year and Series Administrator Chris Schneider says he expects to top that number at Indy.
On top of the $2,500 purse, at the Indianapolis event $25.00 per round bonus money will be added from the series sponsors: A&A Transmission, Indy Cylinder Head, TTI Exhaust and Mancini Racing. Also, if a new racer to the Series wins the race, they will get a $100 bonus from Schneider. Along with $1,000 the winner is eligible for a new pair of Mickey Thompson slicks.
In the series championship, first place gets $1,000 and a Competition plus 727 race transmission from A&A Transmission; second gets $600 and a pair of race ready 440-1 heads courtesy of Indy Cylinder Head; third gets $400 and a set of Headers courtesy TTI Exhaust; fourth gets $300 and a $500 gift certificate from Mancini Racing; and fifth gets $200 and a drive shaft kit provided by Victory Performance Parts. love to see this soon...n exciting abiut its drive
Is it a Boss Hemi or a Chrysler Hemi. It look's no different than any other fuel engine on the circuit. Other than it has
Ford and Boss all over it. Is it a Chrysler design? Nobody seem's to know the answer to this question. Is it a Chrysler Hemi in
Ford Clothing for Ford sponsership dollar's?
i have seen a couple of pics of it and it still looks like a mopar hemi design.
Jerry Miles was NOT the overall NSS winner (he did win NSS/F Class and runnered up in the overall). Gabriel Ray was the overall winner, and NSS/C Class winner.
Thanks for making this correction in a future issue,
Jimmy Ray (proud winners Dad, and NSS/D Class Winner!)
We're working on it! We had a reporter at Chryslers at Carlisle. Look for a complete report soon.

I was wondering if you could help me get a fan mail address for the Mopar Funny Car team?

Awesome restoration. I never saw it myself but often do see Della Woods and her brother Bernie. Wish they could still own it, they are very deserving people.
Ed. Note: Our article about restoring Della Woods’ car ran in 2008. Here is the link: www.moparmax.com/features/featurecar/iii_11-della-1.html.
