SS/AH racer Jim Daniels won the Mopar HEMI Challenge at The Dutch in his 1968 Dart by beating Barton Engines’ David Barton in the final Sunday afternoon at Maple Grove Raceway.
Daniels made a pass of 8.284 seconds at 159.53 mph as Barton fouled on the start. Both cars carried Ray Barton-built engines, giving the Robesonia, Pa.-based company a win-win situation. David Barton is Ray Barton’s son.
This is Daniels’ second HEMI Challenge victory this season and third overall. He won at Maple Grove last year.

Joey Saldana steered his Mopar-powered World of Outlaws Sprint car to a series-leading 19th A-Feature win of the season in the inaugural WoO Fest at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas, on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Saldana won the Crane Cams Dash to start on the pole for the 30-lapper and earned $12,000 for the win, which was the 58th of his World of Outlaws career. He made it three-for-three in the state of Texas after wiring the field at Lone Star Speedway. The Kasey Kahne Racing driver won earlier this season at the half-mile and also was victorious at Houston Raceway Park in Texas.
"This is another great win," said Saldana. "I can't thank Willie (Kahne), Kolten (Gouse) and Kale (Kahne) enough. They work really hard. It was a great effort by this whole team."
Saldana is currently third in the World of Outlaws standings. [10/27/2009]
love to see this soon...n exciting abiut its drive
Is it a Boss Hemi or a Chrysler Hemi. It look's no different than any other fuel engine on the circuit. Other than it has
Ford and Boss all over it. Is it a Chrysler design? Nobody seem's to know the answer to this question. Is it a Chrysler Hemi in
Ford Clothing for Ford sponsership dollar's?
i have seen a couple of pics of it and it still looks like a mopar hemi design.
Jerry Miles was NOT the overall NSS winner (he did win NSS/F Class and runnered up in the overall). Gabriel Ray was the overall winner, and NSS/C Class winner.
Thanks for making this correction in a future issue,
Jimmy Ray (proud winners Dad, and NSS/D Class Winner!)
We're working on it! We had a reporter at Chryslers at Carlisle. Look for a complete report soon.

I was wondering if you could help me get a fan mail address for the Mopar Funny Car team?

Awesome restoration. I never saw it myself but often do see Della Woods and her brother Bernie. Wish they could still own it, they are very deserving people.
Ed. Note: Our article about restoring Della Woods’ car ran in 2008. Here is the link: www.moparmax.com/features/featurecar/iii_11-della-1.html.
