So what of today’s crop of vintage flops? Sure there is more money, in relative terms, involved. But to maintain parity and some sort of competition cost sanity has resulted in rules to keep all-out performance from being the sole barometer of success. Some of the cars are brilliant restorations or replicas, some take more artistic license in regards to their historical past. There are people supplying fresh chassis, fresh bodies, and period-appearing parts to help maintain the connection with history. And with some of the people involved, even the element of rawness has been reborn in some quarters, with match racing coming back into play.

Yeah, it’s still very cool stuff…
