The next step up the street legal traction ladder is L60-15 American Racer tires mounted to Moser 15 x 8 steelies. Believe it or not, as long as the rims have 4-inch back-spacing, these tires fit most 1962-’65 B-bodies with no trimming or modification needed to the wheel lips, tubs or leaf spring locations. These soft compound tires offer decent grip and have an appropriate vintage-look sidewall and tread pattern. They do a good job on a 500 horsepower wedge car.

The 1964 and ’65 Hemi cars need all the rubber they can get. Bob obliges and they are often mini-tubbed and have the leaf springs moved into the frame rails during assembly. Hoosier DOT 29-14.5-15LT Quick Time Pro tires are matched with Mosher 15 x 10 steel rims for the best of both worlds – retro looks and excellent traction.
