After a nearly two-year hiatus from Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill., the famous Monster Mopar Weekend returned under new owner and Mopar fanatic Josh King of Indianapolis. By any measure, the race was a success. The event featured several specialty races for Mopars including a pair of races for the Victory Performance Nostalgia Super Stocks presented by Mickey Thompson Tires and for the National Nostalgia Super Stock Association.
The Victory Performance series held their race on Saturday and the National Nostalgia racers held theirs on Sunday. Cars from both circuits were qualified on Friday and Saturday.
This was the third of the six-race 2012 schedule for the Victory Performance Nostalgia Super Stock competitors and t here were more than 80 Nostalgia Super Stockers at MMW. The rules for both organizations are basically identical so the racers had the luxury of choosing to qualify and race Saturday, Sunday or both. (For a complete report on the National series’ Sunday race see sidebar).
