The Nostalgia Super/Stock class was won by Doug Duell in his 1964 Plymouth “Drag’n Wagon” after Glenn Willkett’s red light start in the far lane.  Duell’s candy-striped wagon from Newburgh, Indiana ran a 10.03 134.18 on his 10.00 dial-in to Willkett’s 10.49 foul start.

In the final round of the Quick 16, John Labbous Jr. from White House, TN (near lane) won a close final over Robbie Gear who hails from Kansas City, MO.  Labbous Jr. carded a 7.964 Elapsed Time at 166.50 MPH to Gear’s 7.954 ET at 169.70 MPH charge.

Brian Hurst won the New Hemi Class with his 2007 Fox-chassied dragster in the final over Kevin Nickleson with a consistant 8.497 Elapsed Time. 

Brian is a third-generation drag racer whose grandfather Fred Hurst ran some of the coolest Candy Apple Red 426 Hemi-powered Barracuda Gassers in the late 60’s and early 70’s.  All three Hurst generations were enjoying the Mopars at the Strip Winners Circle celebration.

The Surf City Garage transporter, loaded with their Manufacturers Midway Mopar display took on a ladder truck from the Las Vegas Fire Department on the long LVMS quarter mile.  The LVFD truck and firemen took the win and a $2,000 prize for charity.

Mark Knox (near lane) is driving a former Drifting Viper that was raced by Samuel Hübinette.  Knox took the win in the all Viper class with a 13.37 Elapsed Time in the final round at Mopars at the Strip.

John Britton with his family and crew from Hastings, Nebraska won the best appearing car and crew with his Mopar-powered ‘33 Roadster, Britton went out of competition in the second round of the Quick 16.

Mark Chancey’s ‘63 Plymouth Fury (near lane) from Vacaville, California defeated a red lighting John Grinwald driving his ‘62 Dodge Dart who came to Vegas all the way from Watertown, Wisconsin.

Every year Mopars at the Strip hosts the Dodge Truck/Cummins Diesel Dyno Pull Off, quite a horsepower show!  It’s a free test for Dynomax equipped vehicles.

Team Performance Products has built this bolt-on, hidden twin-turbo boost system (note arrows) for new Chargers and will have a system for the 2008 Challenger soon after Chrysler introduces the production Pony Car to your local dealership.  All the plumbing is tucked neatly up into the frame and no parts or plumbing sits lower than the stock Charger frame members, the kit also includes a carbon fiber “belly pan”.

Team Performance is prepping this Barracuda with a tubocharged late-model Hemi to compete in the Radial Tire class.  We’ll be looking for this combination to hit the quarter mile!

Mopars at the Strip Guest of Honor “Akron Arlen” Vanke is another veteran Mopar 4-speed master, he was a Chrysler factory-backed driver and a perennial threat in the 60’s and 70’s Pro Stock wars. 

National Event winner Vanke was always capable of running under the NHRA national record whenever he needed it in his 4-speed Super Stock/B Hemi Barracudas.
