In Round 5 Darren Smith (far lane against Steve Wann’s SS/FA ’69 Plymouth) got the holeshot win over Casey Setters to take the national points lead. Smith’s SS/GA ’68 Dart lost in the semi-finals to McClanahan.

Jay Payne’s ’05 Stratus qualified #3 with a 6.035/237.55. In the third round the car made a hard right after the hit of the throttle. Payne kept the car from hitting the retaining wall, but lost the match-up to eventual Pro Mod winner Tony Pontieri.

Dennis Radford had a disappointing time at Las Vegas. In his first qualifying attempt, his ’72 Barracuda Pro Mod launched hard and went into a huge wheel stand on one tire. He broke the wheelie bar on the hit and was done.

Two ‘Cudas, too cool. Idaho’s Raymond Vettel (far lane) against Radford in Round 2 of qualifying.

Wonder how fast this Charger would go on the strip?

Terry Haddock’s AAFC.
