Alex Ramirez out of Sanford, FL, had the lone Mopar representative of 79 entries in Outlaw 10.5 at Orlando. Unfortunately, his ’73 Dart with a Dodge 500 c.i. engine couldn’t crack the field after two qualifying attempts, ending up 63rd after an 8.786-seconds effort at 154.97 mph.

Lee Saunders was the top Mopar qualifier in Heavy Street after going 8.046 at 174.84 in his stock-bodied ’98 Viper to start from the 12th slot on raceday. Saunders runs a fuel-injected, twin-turbocharged 512 cubic incher up front—with the stock 10-cylinder block and crank in place! The Lakeland, FL, racer was all set to go after a first-round bye at 8.447 and 175.62, but the wet stuff ended any chance he had to advance.
