Dutch Treat for Westcott
Charlie Westcott Jr. once again showed the rest of the Hemi contingent why the Westcott family has the definitive race car in the Mopar Hemi Challenge series, taking an impressive victory at the Dutch Classic at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, PA.
Next to the Mopar shootout at the U.S. Nationals, the field at the Dutch was the largest gathering of Hemi Cudas and Darts in the USA. Eighteen cars showed up at the Pennsylvania facility including the California team of Harry Holton with recent JEGS Pacific SportsNationals winner Michael Ogburn and former U.S. Nationals champ Jerry Jenkins driving the two Barracudas. Although neither car made it past the third round, the entire Holton clan was down on the starting line throughout eliminations supporting the remaining drivers.

Also making the show was 2006 Dutch Classic winner Jim Pancake, Louisiana racers Joe Teuton and J. Allen Sherman, and the Division One cars of Bucky Hess, David Barton, and Jim Daniels.

Even though Westcott only put his War Fish ’68 Cuda in the #6 spot during the one shot qualifying Saturday morning with an 8.766, come eliminations, Charlie reeled of a series of 8.50s to totally dominate the field.
