Dennis Brothers broke out with his Byrom, GA-based ’71 Demon in the Super Pro final, handing the win to Bubba Rich and his 2002 Firebird, making it the lone non-Mopar win of the day.
Sportsman also featured an all-Mopar final, with “Big Earl” Talley of Bowling Green, KY, claiming victory with his diesel-burning 2003 Dodge RAM truck. Talley dialed in at 13.31 and carded a winning 13.42 at 97.46 mph pass over John Snapp from Conyers, GA, who broke out with his ’68 Charger, going 13.66 against his 13.69 target. Talley nearly pulled off a double win as he also was runner-up in Diesel Bracket.

A spur-of-the-moment decision to race his new Hemi-powered SRT-8 Grand Cherokee resulted in Chris Moore visiting Atlanta Dragway’s victory lane as the SRT winner over Jeff Wagner (not shown) and his ’03 Neon in the final round. Moore is no stranger to going fast, as he claims several Outlaw Pro motorcycle titles and his other car is a supercharged ’99 Dodge Viper GTS.
The SRT Shootout featured some really fast factory iron. Chris Moore from Greenville, SC, recently purchased his Hemi-powered SRT-8 Jeep Grand Cherokee and came to the Hayes Mopar show just to see what was happening. Upon arriving, however, he got the bug to try out his machine on the track, but had to go to a nearby outlet store and purchase the required long pants. He then rented a helmet, jumped in, and proceeded to win the event, beating Jefferson, GA’s Jeff Wagner and his ’03 Neon in the final. Moore used a slightly better reaction time coupled with a 13.591 at 87.91 mph on a 13.58 dial to defeat Wagner’s 13.43 at 105.70 mph after he dialed in at 13.23 seconds.
